Kevin S. Roberts foundation for children
The Kevin S. Roberts Foundation for Children is a non-profit public foundation funded by direct, tax-deductible donations from individuals, groups and corporations, as well as indirect donations made through the United Way Donor Designation Program.
The Foundation was established to provide grant funding and emergency assistance to children with special needs and children at risk of child abuse.
Our Mission:
To assist children with special needs and children at risk of child abuse in meeting important needs that may be unmet by traditional funding sources.
Our Vision:
To serve as a unique resource for helping families in need by providing small grants in the following areas:
To assist families of children with disabilities who have unmet special needs that hinder their children’s efforts to reach their maximum potential;
To assist families with children at risk of child abuse in need of educational and supportive resources that promote effective parenting, strengthen the family unit, encourage positive interactions among family members and foster the development of healthy family relationships.
Testimonials
“The Urgent Needs Fund has been instrumental in providing essential items for some of the most high-needs families with whom I work. The Fund is unique in terms of the variety of assistance it offers, the simplicity of the application process and its responsiveness to the urgency of children’s critical needs. As grateful as I am for this resource, the families with whom I work are even more grateful.”
-Mimi J. , Parent Partner
“Grant funding for urgently-needed items for children with special needs is so rare and so limited. In my caseload alone, your Foundation has provided safety, protection, healing and a lightening of the heavy load for so many families in need! What beautiful and life-changing work you do! You guys are heroes!”
-Bethany P., Nurse Home Visitor
“When I delivered the grant-funded item to the family today, the child’s mother was in tears and so extremely grateful! We all so appreciate your support of this family, and the many others you serve!”

“There are no words to describe the joy on my student’s face when she first opened the box containing her assistive device that your grant provided! Having this device for both school and home use not only provides consistency for her, but also reinforces her learning and makes homework fun! Truly life-changing for her!”
-Michael A., Elementary School Teacher

The Kevin S. Roberts Foundation for Children
Kevin Summerton Roberts, for whom the Foundation has been named, is an exuberant young man whose courage, patience and determination in facing the obstacles of his everyday life are an inspiration to many. Although his own potential contribution to the world is as yet unknown, his legacy of caring established by the Foundation bearing his name is expected to be of lasting significance to children in need.
The Foundation was launched in December 2000 with a contribution from Kevin’s then-four-year-old brother, Ryan, who donated the entire contents of his piggy bank – 83¢ – “for the kids who need our help”.
